Montreal, May 7, 2008 - Following the proposal by the government of Canada to reduce the exposure of newborns and nursing infants[1], to bisphenol A, Trudeau Corporation, the leading Canadian supplier of quality kitchenware and dining accessories in North America, would like to reassure its customers that over the coming months it will be eliminating bisphenol A (BPA) from every product where the substance comes into contact with food or drink.
Although the results of scientific studies on BPA are contradictory, Trudeau will take the immediate preventive measure of reviewing its entire product range in order to eliminate BPA. As BPA is only found in a small portion of Trudeau and Home Presence products, the company will continue to offer several BPA-free products, such as those made of glass, stainless steel, porcelain, SAN plastic, etc.. At present, the recommendations issued by the Canadian government mainly concern baby bottles and infant formula cans which contain polycarbonate plastic. In contrast, the American government has stated that, "Based on our ongoing review, we believe there is a large body of evidence that indicates that FDA-regulated products containing BPA currently on the market are safe and that exposure levels to BPA from food contact materials, including for infants and children, are below those that may cause health effects."
Trudeau Corporation takes the health and wellbeing of its customers seriously, and will continue to follow government recommendations.
